Torres Strait Islander Artists Scoop This Year's 24th Telstra Indigenous Art Awards

The Telstra Indigenous Art Awards are the richest and most prestigious awards for Australian indigenous artists.

Dennis Nona and Alick Tipoti, who are represented by Aboriginal Art Prints, took out two of the five main awards.

Dennis was the overall winner of the $40,000 main prize with his extraordinary, life size cast bronze sculpture, 'Ubirikubiri of the Awailau Kasa'. Alick Tiopoti was the winner of the Works on Paper category with his monumental, 3 metre x 1 metre linocut, 'Gabau Aimai Mabaigal'.

You can download the official award publication in PDF here (2.2mb)
